Today

Today, we've only known each other for about 24 hours;
For 6 hours you've watched me sleep and dream and smiled at me when I opened my eyes
To the cool breeze blowing in my window.
Today, I have some things planned for you;
Just to show you how much I am thankful for you.
Today, you are a gift given to me without strings attached
A gift from God, letting me know that I am loved
Today, every time I see you,
You give me every reason to smile even when I don't really want to;
I smile sometimes just because I met you.
There is my joy in today.

There is my joy in today;
Knowing that I've said goodbye to yesterday rightly so in prayer.
Leaving those things behind that would have hindered me
Today, you give me hope that everything will be alright;
I look forward to hoping to see you again
Tomorrow you won't look the same;
You'll look better and brighter and with me I'll be closer to my goals and dreams.

I rest my eyes to wake again and today will be right there.
